Anything Is Valid Dance Theatre has emerged as one of the most successful new performance initiatives in contemporary dance. AIVDT was founded in 2006 by a group of dancers who wanted to take contemporary dance out of the theatres and onto the streets with the hope of increasing the audiences for the art form.
Inspired by the ‘flashmobbing’ culture, AIVDT took to the streets with fresh determination to demystify contemporary dance and make it more accessible through performances in public spaces. AIVDT specialises in improvisation, installations and innovative choreography for a found audience. The dancers hope to surprise, intrigue, confuse and inspire those who manage to catch a glimpse of their strange and engaging performances.
Directed by Serena Chalker and Quindell Orton, AIVDT hopes to contribute braveness to the world and breathe culture into places you’d least expect it. Expect the unexpected!
