Tell us about your artform and how you got into it
Growing up in the country, I didn’t even realise jobs like mine even existed, so there wasn’t much planning involved in terms of career choices. I have been very lucky in terms of the opportunities that have been given to me over the years, it has allowed me to widen my skill base and establish myself as one of Perth’s most unique performers.

How would you describe your performance style?
It really depends whether I’m doing stand up, improv or theatre. They’re all very unique artforms, but regardless, the most important thing to me is sharing a story and engaging the listener.

What experiences have you had in your career?
I have been to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival numerous times, Adelaide Fringe Festival and Edinburgh Internatinal Arts Festival.

In 2009 my improvisation group, The Big HOO-HAA! sent me to Canada to work with Loose Moose Theatre Company – the birth palce of Theatresports.

Tell us about your JUMP mentoring project
I am so excited about working with my mentor Margot Lietman. She is an actor / comedian / story teller in New York City. She teaches at The Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre, one of America’s best improv schools, runs her own comedy night and is a mutli-award winning storyteller.

I will be working closely with Margot as I create a new solo show, a hybrid of stand up, theatre and story telling.

What are your dreams and aspirations?
I aspire to make a living from my chosen artform. I dream of working with people that inspire me, both in Australia and overseas. And I want to tell some great stories!

Do any future projects in the pipeline?
I will be touring my new solo show to Melbourne and Sydney, and hopefully heading back over the The United States for the Women In Comedy Festival 2011.

What advice can you give to budding comedians/improvisers/story tellers performers?
Focus on what it is about your craft that you love. If there are three things that you like doing, try to combine them to create something that is not only unique – but that you are guaranteed to enjoy. Never feel like you have to choose one path – create your own!
