Mundaring Environmental Art Project

  • Mundaring Arts Centre 7190 Great Eastern Highway Mundaring, WA, 6073 Australia

Each year the Mundaring Environmental Art Award immerses students in investigating environmental topics to create work for an exhibition and banners for the town centre. In 2016, students investigated and depicted their creative ideas for conserving our local waterways and the important elements that work together to maintain healthy aquatic ecosystems.

Hundreds of primary school student’s respond to this year’s theme, Conserving Our Local Waterways. The most popular designs from this display will be translated into banners to adorn the Mundaring town centre for the coming year.

LOWER PRIMARY YEARS 1 – 3
FOCUS: WHAT MAKES A HEALTHY WATERWAY
Students investigated and depicted plants that filter pollutants and salinity; removal of toxins and pollutants; aquatic life and how it exists in this environment

UPPER PRIMARY YEARS 4 -6
FOCUS: PROTECTING OUR WATERWAYS
Students selected one type of waterway (creek, wetland, river, lake or water catchment area) and investigated the elements that work together to maintain a healthy aquatic ecosystem.

Come in before 25 September and vote for your favourite design. The People’s Choice winner will join selected designs to be translated onto large banners and hung in the Mundaring Memorial Rose Garden on Great Eastern Hwy for 2017.
