Graffiti Grant Funds Project Now Open 6/01/10

The State Government is committed to increasing local government capacity to effectively address the high volume of graffiti vandalism within the state.

The Office of Crime Prevention will provide up to $20,000 to individual local governments and not-for-profit organisations to undertake targeted graffiti removal and graffiti intervention based on four categories in the Graffiti Fund.

The categories consist of:

  • Clean-up and rapid removal of graffiti;
  • Graffiti hotspot targeting;
  • CCTV for graffiti hotspots; and

Education and diversionary programs for youth, including:

  • Urban Art projects that engage young people and increase their skills in art and design;
  • Projects that work in partnership with the community to deliver programs to assist youth to make positive changes in their lives and take responsibility for their actions;
  • Projects that increase young people’s skills in a trade such as carpentry or panel-beating to aid them in future employment.

Successful applicants will be required to complete a comprehensive evaluation report for all categories. In addition, those applicants successful in the graffiti hotspot targeting category will need to complete and implement a local graffiti intervention and management plan for the area in partnership with the Office of Crime Prevention.

The Graffiti Fund opened on Tuesday 1 December 2009. Applicants will have 10 weeks to submit their application according to the graffiti fund policy guidelines, application process, and terms and conditions. Applications for the Graffiti Fund close 12 noon Friday 5 February 2010.
