ABOUT THE HIVE ENSEMBLE
The HIVE Ensemble is a cross-artform opportunity for young artists aged 18-26. Propel Youth Arts WA is calling out for expressions of interest to be part of this exciting and new creative ensemble.
Propel wants to bring together an enthusiastic ensemble of musicians, visual artists, performance makers, designers, dancers, photographers, directors, sound designers, lighting designers, and writers – to name a few! We want it all, whatever your art form, we want to hear from you!
The Ensemble will provide a training environment where you, with the support of mentors and peers, will grow and refine your skill base. You’ll be able to share your skills and expertise with the rest of the ensemble, and will have plenty of opportunities to collaborate, experiment, and create new work.
The Ensemble will give you a chance to stretch your wings artistically and find out what it’s like to work as part of a diverse creative team. To begin, you will need to commit at least 3 sessions per week to the ensemble. Each session will be 3-4 hours in length and may increase or decrease depending on the projects you create, all of this will be determined by you, the Ensemble!
Along the way you’ll have the support of Propel, access to advice, and access to a series of mentors. This network will assist with all aspects of making your art and getting it seen, plus you’ll have access to all Propel events that will enhance your training experience. Is there a cost? No! Propel will provide you with as much support as we can and will offer advice and assistance in regards to fundraising and grant applications to help make your art.
We want the HIVE to provide a platform for you to grow into the next stage of your career and provide an opportunity for you develop skills to become a sustainable artist.
ARE YOU INTERESTED?
We want you to write one paragraph about what you’d get out of being a part of a cross-art-form ensemble.
Also, we’d like you to tell us a little about yourself, your art form, why you want to be part of the HIVE ensemble, and a little bit about the kind of work you’re interested in making. You can do this by writing it down on paper, recording a video on your iphone, putting it in a song or through illustration. We don’t mind! Be creative. We want to see the kind of artist you are but even more importantly, the kind of artist you are.
Once submitted, your expression of interest will be assessed by a panel of selected young artists and mentors who will compile a short list. Shortlisted applicants will then be asked to attend an interview.
What are you waiting for?
Submit your expression of interest today to email@example.com. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 30 March 2016. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted in mid April for an interview.
