bamBOO Venue Support Grant Program 26/05/10

Proposals are invited from across Australia to apply for this new venue support program which offers support involving the complimentary use of the bamBOO amphitheatre along with venue production, marketing and ticketing support.

A selection of six projects will be offered full access to venue facilities in order to workshop and carry out their project as part of the next bamBOO summer season October 2010 to May 2011.

Applications close July 2nd 2010.

What is bamBOO looking for?

  • bamBOO is looking for contemporary projects with clear vision and objectives, a well thought out and concise marketing plan, a creative team with the foreseeable skills to implement this plan.
  • Projects can include anything utlilising original material from creative genres scoping contemporary music, dance, theatre, visual art and cross disciplinary projects.
  • Projects suited to a mid sized venue with a capacity of 150 persons
  • Projects which have shown to have conducted some level of market research
  • Projects with clear target market as well as the ability to appeal to broader audiences
  • Projects whose themes and content would gain emphasis by being staged in an interactive, untraditional
  • outdoor venue
  • Projects that are ‘workshop-ready’, grounded by an existing producing brand and with a history of shows of
  • a similar nature
  • Projects with a community focus

What does bamBOO provide?
Estimated in kind support of over $6000 which
includes:

  • Free Venue hire
  • Free publicity on website and mail outs through database for promotion
  • Free use of online ticketing (fee added on top of ticket price $2 to Seatadvisor per ticket)
  • Free bartenders, barbacks, security and door girl
  • Free venue setup with cushions, ottomans and high tables
  • Free basic in house lighting, sound and audiovisual equipment
  • Free use of rehearsal space with free parking

What do you provide?

  • A qualified sound engineer*
  • A qualified lighting engineer*
  • A qualified stage manager*
  • Any other technical requirements eg radio microphones, moving lights, LEDs, electronic lighting desk
  • A full show with supported marketing material including print media, advertising and public relations strategy
  • A $3000 bar spend retainer that means that if the show doesn’t make $3000 over the bar on the night of its operation, the Arts Partner will make up the difference. On average most shows will make $3000 + in a four hour period, so this simply sits as a safety net for the expenses of the amphitheatre.

*bamBOO has a database of choice professionals that have been resident in the venue since its inception. These contractors know the venue and the equipment and can quote through bamBOO for your project.their project as part of the next bamBOO summer season October 2010 to May 2011.
