iBUILD - callout for young creative thinkers 8/07/10

iBUILD is a free one-off workshop for children and young people to get creative and have a say about making community spaces and places better.

  • Is your neighbourhood child-friendly?
  • Are you fed-up with the places and spaces where you hang-out?
  • Have you got an idea to improve it?
  • Do you enjoy drawing and model-making?
  • Would you like to learn about planning and design?
  • Do you want to use art to change your landscape?
  • Then turn your ideas into reality with iBUILD!

WHEN:
10am – 4pm Saturday 21 August.

WHERE:
Architecture Building @ Curtin University, Kent Street Bentley. Refreshments and lunch provided.

WHAT:
Any child or young person aged 6 to 17 years who has an interest in making better spaces and places where they can live, learn, work and play in is invited to the workshop. With the help of Curtin University Architecture students you will be able to use different art, design and craft materials to further develop your ideas and bring them to life!

The architecture students will work with your ideas to develop an exhibition and publication. You will be invited to the launch along with architects, planners, designers, developers and others who want to see new ideas from children and young people.

HOW:
Places at the workshop are limited – please register your interest by completing an expression of interest form at the Commissioner for Children and Young People website>. Registrations close 11th July 2010.

GET THINKING:
All children and young people that come to the workshop will be asked to bring along an idea. Your idea can be in any format such as a photograph, video clip, picture, story or poem about anything to do with spaces and places. You might like to create a better park or oval, shape your shopping centre or even transform transport in your town!
