Help plan National Youth Week 2011 22/07/10

The Office for Youth is inviting young people 18-25 years old from across the state to apply to be WA’s Young Member on the National Planning Group for NYW in 2011. This is a great opportunity for a passionate and creative young person to take a lead role in National Youth Week (NYW) celebrations in 2011!

The objectives of NYW are to:

  • Give young people aged 12–25 an opportunity to express their ideas and views, raise
  • important youth issues, and create entertainment
  • Give the wider community the opportunity to listen to young people and celebrate the
  • positive contributions they make to the community
  • Raise community awareness on issues of concern to young people.

What does being the WA Young Member involve?
The WA Young Member is a member of both the NYW National Planning Group and the WA NYW Team.

Being a member of the National Planning Group involves:

  • Developing and presenting ideas for the national promotional campaign, including creating a theme (slogan and design) and suggesting promotional materials, supporters and competitions
  • Acting as media spokesperson for NYW, including undertaking media relations training and possibly appearing in advertisements and/or interviews
  • Participating in the launch of NYW
  • Chairing National Planning Group meetings, which are based on consensus among Young Members
  • Contributing to an annual activity report on NYW
  • Providing support to other Young Members as required.

Being a member of the WA Youth Week Team involves:

  • Promoting, supporting and helping to develop creative ideas to get more young people involved in NYW in WA
  • Providing feedback and input on proposed events and strategies for NYW in WA
  • Being a public spokesperson for NYW in WA
  • Assessing NYW grant applications
  • Attending events during NYW as required.
