New breed sculpture installation artists Rose Skinner and Rizzy have forged an initiative to nurture local emerging and experimental art forms. “Minxaurus” offers non-traditional spaces for Perth based artists to collaborate and exhibit.

The launch of Minxaurus will be celebrated with a nocturnal collision of contemporary sculpture, installation, performance, illustration, projection and music under the banner of ‘The Secret Garden’. The evening of creative splendor will take place in Skinner’s Mount Lawley based studio and the gracious host welcomes all to attend.

“The Minxaurus launch night will see an eclectic group of exciting up and coming artists combine talents to transform the space into an enchanting realm of secrets and surprises” Rose Skinner explains. The Secret Garden will be the first of many collaborations between artists Amanda Verschuren, Pam Boyd-Goggin, Natalie Williamson, Korrin Stoney, Lee Carkeek, Rizzy, and Rose Skinner.

Rose recently returned from the Ipswich Gallery in Queensland where she installed a colour bursting micro cosmos structure called “I wish I lived in Wonderland” created from brightly coloured furniture, toys and candy. The breathtaking fantasy land construction has been immensely popular with children and adults alike, reflected in the gallery programme which is now almost completely booked for the duration of the exhibition.

The Minxaurus launch kicks off at 6pm, 17 Burt St Mount Lawley, on Friday the 4th of September 2009. The event is free.
