We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help out with Home is Where My Heart Is from 7 – 17 August 2014.
WHAT IS HOME IS WHERE MY HEART IS?
Home Is Where My Heart Is, is a photography mentorship and exhibition program. Young people who have experienced homelessness are teamed with young emerging photographers to capture images that represent ‘home’ to them.
These moving and diverse images offer an insight into the lives of young homeless people in WA, acting as a catalyst for widespread community education and discussion about youth homelessness. The images captured are then showcased in a unique exhibition open to the public to view and purchase prints.
You can find out more about the project here.
Volunteers are required to fill the role of gallery attendant/supervisor, assisting with customer service, patron engagement at the exhibition, and selling prints and merchandise. Opening night volunteers will also be required to assist with food and alcohol service, selling prints and merchandise and greeting guests.
Volunteer shifts will be either 3 or 4 hours long depending on which day you are scheduled. The exhibition will take place at The Hive: Creative Arts Space (192 William St, Northbridge). A briefing session will take place at the venue on Thursday July 24th from 6pm-7.30pm.
This exhibition relies on volunteers to ensure it can stay open and successfully run. Think you've got what it takes? We would love to hear from you!
