Program Reviews
Amplifier 2009
Amplifier has officially wrapped up it’s first year maiden voyage!
Amplifier launched with the Arts Survival Forum a discussion of surviving in the arts with special guests comedian Lawrence Leung, musician Tristen Parr and visual artist Stormie Mills – lead by the fearless MC Damian Smith from RTR-FM. These creative practitioners shared their experiences of surviving in the arts – what it takes, the paths to get where they are, the good, the bad and everything in between.
With 32 presenters involved over the 8 Amplifier arts business training events, participants learnt from arts professionals and practitioners in areas like Grant Writing, Marketing, Business Planning, Tax advice, Arts Law – along with exploring ideas on survival in the arts, working in and forming creative collectives and space issues within Perth.
The fruits of Amplifier have already been evident from the opportunities and contacts made from the program – with exhibition openings, funding received and collaborations between participants formed in the wake of Amplifier 2009.
