Y Talks is a youth-driven platform for social exchange, knowledge exchange, and inclusiveness within the WA community.
Join four inspirational young guest speakers who will shed light on and discuss their groundbreaking ideas, personal narratives, and change-making projects.
Y TALKS SPEAKERS:
Ziggy O'Reilly (SymbioticA, The University of Western Australia) will discuss transforming socially assistive robots into social actors to understand how people perceive them.
Josten Myburgh (Tone List) will discuss areas of inquiry in his PhD research, such as: experimental music as ‘first nature’; experimentation as a ‘hopeful act’; and prioritising un-compromised encounters with new experiences, rather than fitting these experiences into pre-existing frames of interpretation or transforming them into spectacles.
Petr Lebedev (University of Sydney) will discuss how he approaches science and art. In his opinion, these aren't at the opposite sides of the spectrum, they're very compatible, and being interested in both will really help achieve cool things in your life.
WHEN: Saturday 21 April, 11.00am – 2.00pm
WHERE: Theatre, State Library of WA
