Hidden Movements

Join 5 emerging dancers in the Studio Underground at the State Theatre Centre of WA, for a series of intimate and personal solo performance showings.

Hidden Movements is a creative development program where up to 10 young dancers across Perth and the Mandurah region work under the guidance of local dance artist Bernadette Lewis to develop their skills in choreography, improvisation, and performance.

Hidden Movements Metro is presented by Propel Youth Arts WA for Youth Week WA KickstART Festival 2019 with performances at The State Theatre Centre of WA. Hidden Movements Regional is presented  by the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre as part of the You Are… Festival with performances in MANPAC’s Fishtrap Theatre.

About Bernadette Lewis

Bernadette Lewis graduated from WAAPA’s honours program, LINK Dance Company in 2011. Her choreographic work includes two new commissions by WAAPA (2015/17), two residencies (STRUT Dance 2015 and Chunky Move 2017) and movement consultation for new theatre works by The Last Great Hunt and Riptide. Her latest work, The Honeymoon Suite, curated by Paper Mountain for Peaks 2018 was the recipient of the FRINGE WORLD Dance and Physical Theatre Award.

About the Youth Week WA KickstART Festival

Now in its ninth consecutive year, the Youth Week WA KickstART Festival offers young people aged 12 - 26 an extensive range of free workshops, performances, exhibitions, talks, special events, and new initiatives for 2019.

The Youth Week WA KickstART Festival 2019 is presented by Propel Youth Arts WA, and is funded by the State Government of Western Australia. The KickstART Festival is also supported by Lotterywest, the City of Perth, and the Perth Theatre Trust.
