Making friends with yarn!
Find Leah Vlatko and her colourful giant loom roving around the Perth Cultural Centre during KickstART Festival Day. You are invited to contribute to this interactive loom by weaving through the yarns closest to your experiences, and exploring the idea of how you nurture yourself. Take your time, sit, weave, play, be still.
After KickstART Festival Day, Leah’s Travelling Loom will be displayed in the KickstART Nook on the ground level at the State Library of WA.
The State Library of WA is open from 9.00am until 8.00pm Mondays to Thursdays; 9.00am until 5.30pm Fridays; and 10am until 5.30pm on weekends.
About Leah Vlatko
Leah Vlatko is a textile artist passionate about redefining what craft means in a contemporary setting. Slowing down and making things by hand, using ethically sourced yarns, and empowering handmade and DIY as a resistance to consumerism and slave labour. Through her practice Vlatko is contributing to the changing narrative of craft as a form of public interaction and collaboration, rather than a tool limited to the domestic woman's sphere.
