Yokayi Postcard Project

  • Art Gallery of WA (map)

Members of the Yokayi Girls Program (Girrawheen Senior High School, Balga Senior High School and Kiara College) were invited by Propel to create their own artistic responses to the work of emerging Bibbulmun artist Esther McDowell / Yabini Kickett as part of her Artist Activation at AGWA during the Desert River Sea: Portraits of the Kimberley exhibition.

The result is a series of postcard landscapes, created during school incursion workshops – supported by Edmund Rice Centre WA – which will be exhibited in the Imagination Room at the Art Gallery of WA.

Desert River Sea: Portraits of the Kimberley is open at the Art Gallery of WA until Monday 27 May.

The Art Gallery of WA is open from 10am until 5pm Wednesdays to Mondays, and is closed on Tuesdays.
