Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company and Marrugeku present Marrugeku's Gudirr Gudirr

Winner of Australian Dance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Independent Dance and a Helpmann finalist for Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer this production is not to be missed!

In another first for the Company, Yirra Yaakin will be co-presenting the Perth premiere of the award winning Gudirr Gudirr with Marrugeku Theatre Company from Broome. This extraordinary performance of physical theatre combines the raw power of contemporary Indigenous dance with theatre and will have audiences enthralled from start to finish with a powerful and mesmerizing solo performance from Dalisa Pigram.

“Gudirr Gudirr calls a warning, the guwayi bird calls when the tide is turning — to miss the call is to drown. An intimate solo dance and video work performed by Dalisa Pigram, daughter of Broome. By turns hesitant, restless, resilient and angry, Gudirr Gudirr lights a path from a broken past through a fragile present and on to a future still in the making.”

Concept, performer & co-choreographer: Dalisa Pigram // Director & co-choreographer: Koen Augustijnen // Designer: Vernon Ah Kee
