National Youth Week (NYW) is fast approaching and we’re on the lookout for a young artist to design the State’s National Youth Week Merchandise!
In partnership with the Department for Local Government and Communities, Propel is responsible for organising and coordinating the NYW merchandise with help from the NYW Committee. Merchandise items are given away during the KickstART Festival and at all NYW celebrations held throughout Western Australia.
Each year, the NYW Planning Committee selects a series of merchandise items, and votes for their favourite Western Australian artist aged 12 – 26 to design the merchandise artwork.
In the past, merchandise items have included (but not limited to) canvas bags, stickers, bookmarks and postcards.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a young emerging artist to be part of NYW and have their work seen across Western Australia. If this is something you might be interested in, APPLY TODAY!
WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?
In consultation with Propel and the NYW Planning Committee, the NYW Merchandise Artist will create a black and white artwork or design that reflects Australia’s NYW week theme, ‘It Starts With Us’.
This is a paid gig! However, you will need to submit an application to Propel in order to be considered. The NYW Planning Committee will then vote for their favourite artist.
Applications close on 15 December 2014 and the successful artist will be contacted on 17 December 2014.
- Must be aged between 12 – 26
- Must be available to consult with Propel from the 17 December 2014
- Draft artworks must be submitted by 13 January 2014
- Final artwork must be completed by 23 January 2014
Please complete this application form in order to be considered as the Merchandise Artist for NYW 2015. Applications close Monday 15th December at 5.00pm.
Please note: you do not need to create an artwork specific to NYW for the application process; simply submit some existing examples of your style/artworks. You will also be required to propose an artwork concept to fit the NYW theme.
