Youth Week WA KickstART Festival

As the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia continues to grow, it has become clear to us at Propel Youth Arts WA that we must cancel the upcoming Youth Week WA KickstART Festival, which was scheduled to take place from 17 - 24 April.

We are heartbroken as this year’s event was supposed to be our 10th anniversary celebration of KickstART and, in our team’s opinion, was shaping up to be one of the best festival programs we would have ever put together. However, we have a responsibility and a duty of care that stretches beyond just the arts and youth sectors, to our community at large. It would be a risk to public safety if we were to continue with KickstART this year.

KickstART Virtual

KickstART Virtual

22 - 29 May 2020

As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent live event cancellations, KickstART Virtual is a week-long online festival of free workshops, talks and hangouts, specifically tailored to young creative people in WA, and developed by Creative Coordinator Kobi Arthur Morrison with the Youth Week WA Planning Committee.

One week of creative workshops, talks, performances and more by young people for young people. All online, free and youth-orientated. This is an opportunity for young people in WA to come together, learn and connect during this time of isolation. It’s an opportunity to get creative and stay connected with the arts community, all from the safety and comfort of your own home.

About Youth Week WA

Youth Week WA (formerly National Youth Week WA), is an annual statewide celebration of the positive contributions of young people to our community throughout Western Australia.

More than 100 events take place across the State each year, many of which have received a Youth Week WA grant provided by the State Government of Western Australia through the Department of Communities.

The Youth Week WA 2020 theme is Koora, Mila, Yeyi. These are three Nyoongar words that refer to three different points of time, Koora meaning the past, Mila meaning the future, and Yeyi meaning the present.
