EOI – Artist in Residence with the City of Bayswater

The City of Bayswater invites local artists to express their interest in taking up a dedicated Artist in Residence space from 1 October – 30 November 2023.

Located on the ground floor of The RISE in the heart of Maylands, the 67sqm space overlooks the amphitheatre and is a short walk from the Maylands Town Centre.

This residency is open to individuals, partnerships or collectives.


As the City's Artist in Residence, you will:

  • gain free and exclusive use of an open workspace and secure storage for eight weeks

  • be able to sell your artwork direct to the community with no commissions

  • have the opportunity to run paid classes and workshops free of room hire charges

  • have your residency promoted on the City’s website and social media channels.

Eligibility: To be eligible, artists must: 

  • reside in the City of Bayswater

  • have the space open to the public at least 20 hours a week

  • have their own public liability insurance for the duration of the residency

Express your interest by submitting the following:

  • Portfolio of your work

  • Artist biography

  • Current CV

  • Proposal outlining how you intend to use the space (no longer than one page)

The space

The RISE is a popular location in Maylands, offering opportunities for you to engage directly with the local community. The 67sqm space includes access to secure storage, toilet and shower facilities, free parking and internet access, and is near to Maylands Train Station. You will have access to the space in line with The RISE opening hours – 6am to 10pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday.
