The Sketchbook Project is a collaborative and visual experience that provides an opportunity for young people to share their own personal stories and passions with the wider community across Western Australia.
Each year as part of Youth Week WA KickstART Festival, Propel sends hundreds of sketchbooks to participants aged 12 -26 across our vast State, ready to be cut, painted and inked, filled with designs, stories and drawings from young people who want to share their stories.
All completed sketchbooks are displayed in the State Library of Western Australia for the duration of the Festival, which in 2019 will be from April 13 - 20. After the Festival, the sketchbooks will then embark on a tour of regional and suburban libraries, sharing our young people's stories in an ongoing event called The Travelling Sketchbook Exhibition.
Registrations are now open for the 2019 Sketchbook Project
Online registrations are open now until Sunday 6 January 2019.
On the registration form you will be asked to select your preferred sketchbook collection point, which will include various regional libraries for regionally based participants or the Propel Office as well and the State Library of WA for metro based participants. If you live regionally and are unable to collect from one of the library hubs listed we may be able to mail the sketchbook directly to you.
All sketchbooks will be distributed in mid January and we ask that you return your completed sketchbook to your original collection point by Wednesday 20 March.
Important update: This year we will require a pledge of $4 for your sketchbook. This means that if you fail to return your sketchbook to us then we will charge you the cost of the sketchbook and you will effectively purchase the sketchbook from us. You will not be charged when you submit the registration form. You will be charged if we do not have your sketchbook by at the latest, 13 April 2019.
